PTO Board of Directors

President (Executive Board):  Michelle Sullivan

The president directs affairs of the PTO in cooperation with the principal and members of the executive board and does the following: 

  • Preside at all meetings of the Executive Board, General Membership, and Board of Directors.
  •  Prepare the agenda for all meetings of the Executive Board, General Membership, and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate the work of the officers and committees in order that the objectives may be accomplished. 
  •  Serve as an authorized signatory on the PTO account(s).
  • Cast the deciding vote in the case of a tie at all board and membership meetings, otherwise the President will abstain from voting
  • Execute decisions of the Executive Board and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as primary contact for the principal.

 

 

Vice President (Executive Board):  Caleb Chappell

Should the President be unable to complete his/her term, the Vice-President assume the office of President.  In addition, the Vice-President does the following:

  •  Attend all meetings of the Executive Board, General Membership, and Board of Directors. 
  •  Acts as aide to the President.
  • Maintain the bylaws for the organization, acting as parliamentarian at meetings.
  •  Serve as an authorized signatory on the PTO account(s).
  • Keeping time at meetings.

 

 

 

 

Treasurer (Executive Board):  Sarah Homestead

The treasurer is responsible for the control and accounting of the PTO funds, and does the following:

  • Attend all meetings of the Executive Board, General Membership, and Board of Directors
  •  Serve as an authorized signatory on the PTO account(s).
  • Maintain account(s) and Keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintains all PTA financial accounts and records.
  •  Present a financial statement at each PTO meeting.
  • Submit deposits within 15 days or sooner
  •  Submit all payments and reimbursements within 30 days or sooner.  Any payment over $100 will require dual signatures.
  • Provide books to be audited annually by an auditing committee of three (3). The books shall be turned over to the Treasurer with a signed statement that the books are in order.
  • Place all monies in a depository appointed and approved by the Board of Directors.

 

Secretary (Executive Board):  Tiffany Fleming

The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate records of the proceedings of the association and does the following:

  • Attend all meetings of the Executive Board, General Membership, and Board of Directors and keep the official minutes of the meeting.
  •  Publish and distribute a summary of the minutes within 5 school days or sooner
  • Preside over the meeting, should the President and Vice President be unable to attend
  •  Keep a log of attendance for the meetings. 
  •  Serve as an authorized signatory on the PTO account(s).
  • Recruit candidates for membership.
  • Maintain an accurate list with names, phone numbers, addresses and email addresses for all members
  • Maintain accurate records for members and dues, if dues are charged.

Board of Directors

Events & Fundraising:

Events & Fundraising Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Assist in planning, organizing and executing all fundraising and event activities.
  • Potentially consist of several sub-committees, as needed for various events.
  • The Events Committee Chair will oversee all subcommittees.
  • Maintain accurate records to evaluate events efforts.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process.

Immediate Past President: Andre Boyd

  •  Serve as an advisor to the Executive Board and Board of Directors for one year immediately following his/her term in office.

Room Parent Support:

The Room Parent Support Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors
  • Coordinate room parents. 
  • Set up a room parent meetings to distribute all necessary information. 
  •  Coordinate with other committees on an ongoing basis to ensure that the appropriate volunteers are present when needed. 
  •  Work with the room parents and chairpersons on coordinating volunteers for all PTO and school related events.

Communications: 

The Communications Committee Shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Develop a monthly PTO newsletter to be distributed to parents.
  • Create a “Welcome Pack” to be given to all newly enrolled families to UA during the school year.
  • Maintain and update the PTO Facebook page.
  • Produce and present press releases to the community, as applicable.

Fundraising Efforts for Education: 

The Fundraising Efforts for Education Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Seek out and apply for grants applicable to University Academy.

Hospitality: 

The Hospitality Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Organize refreshments for all meetings
  • Recognize birthdays and other special events in the lives of the teachers and PTO.
  • Plan and organize special events and meetings, to include back to school, FCAT week, periodic family events, teacher luncheon, etc.
  • Plan and organize Teacher Appreciation Week.

GO DEEP: Available On Website

The GO DEEP Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Seek out enrichment opportunities to support the UA teachers and specialized curriculum areas.

Arts & Music: 

The Arts & Music Committee shall:

  • Be lead by a Chairman who will attend all meetings of the General Membership and Board of Directors.
  • Seek out enrichment opportunities to support the UA arts & music program.
